1.  When do I find out which room I'm assigned?

Residents will know which room they'll be living in on move-in day. No information regarding rooms or roommates will be released prior to move-in day.

2.  Where is the closest grocery store?

The closest grocery store is Safeway at the corner of West Sacramento and Nord Avenue (north of Craig). Click here for printable directions.

3.  Where is the closest bank?

For your convenience we have an ATM inside Craig Hall, but there's also several ATMs on the Chico State campus, as well as several bank locations in the downtown area (within 2 miles of Craig). Click here for bank locations.

4.  Where can I buy stamps?

There's a postage store on Walnut near the West Third Street stoplight.

5.  Where can I find bus schedules?

The C-Shuttle schedule, as well as a link to the Butte College bus schedules, can be found here.

6.  Where can I put my bike?

We have several bike racks surrounding all three of our buildings. Bikes may not be secured to any part of, nor brought into, the building. Make sure you bring a bike lock so you can secure your bike to the racks at Craig Student Living and/or on-campus. We recommend U-locks as opposed to cable locks, which can be cut more easily with bolt cutters, or better using both U-lock and cable lock to secure the entire bike.

7.  How do I receive packages?

All packages can be picked up from the Bradley mailroom during designated hours. The Bradley mailroom is open Mon/Wed/Fri 3PM-5PM, and Tue/Thur 7PM-8PM.

8.  Do I have to move everything out during holiday breaks?

During your lease term your belongings do not have to be moved, according to the guidelines of your lease contract.

9.  Can I stay here in the building during breaks?

You are welcome to stay in your room during the Thanksgiving and Spring breaks. According to the guidelines of your lease contract, the only break you are required to vacate during is the Christmas/Winter break period. If you decide to stay during the Winter break period you must make arrangements at the beginning of the school year. An additional fee is required, and we cannot guarantee all requests. For residents interested in staying during the summer months, please call us at 1-800-559-1393 or email us.

10.  Can I move in early for athletics?

If you are interested in moving in early, please call us at 1-800-559-1393 or email us. We would like to arrange your accommodations by notifying our maintenance and housekeeping staff of your early arrival. If there is a space available for you for the time you requested, it will be at $25.00 per night/per person up to two weeks prior to your lease contract date. We cannot guarantee all requests.

11.  Is there any space left in the residence halls?

There is a high demand for residence halls and space fills up quickly, so we encourage students to apply as soon as they are admitted to Chico State or Butte College. To get specific details about the status of our various floor plan options, click here.

12.  Is there a housing application deadline?

Housing applications can be submitted throughout the academic year. However, priority housing is provided to students who apply early and there is no guarantee of assignment.

13.  I have Financial Aid. How will this apply to my room and board costs?

Although your Financial Aid cannot be directly transferred to us, a copy of your official award letter will allow us to customize your payment schedule. We require that you pay your deposit and first month of rent prior to moving in, but after receiving a copy of your official award letter we are able to defer the remainder of your payments until your award is disbursed. To find out if your Financial Aid will cover your living expenses at Craig please refer to your official award letter.

14.  Can I request a roommate?

Roommate requests can be made on the roommate matching form on the last page of your printed Lease Agreement. All suites (two rooms sharing a bathroom) and rooms are single gender. Though we cannot guarantee roommate preferences, we will make every effort to accommodate your request. Roommate requests must be mutual between both students.

15.  Must I have a Flex Plan?

All freshman are required to have a Flex Plan. If you're living in the Almondwood Apartments, Tahitian Arms Apartments, or The Abbey (upperclassmen hall), the purchase of a Flex Plan is optional. To read specific details about our various dining options, click here.

16.  When can I move into my room?

We move all residents into their rooms through a specific check-in process that will start the Wednesday prior to the start of the fall semester. To find out which particular day you can move in, check out our Welcome Packet (available here) which includes specific dates and times.

17.  What size are the beds?

The beds are XL Twin, so bring sheets/blankets accordingly.

18.  What should I bring in the fall?

Students should bring linens, towels, pillows, and any personal items they may have. For more info check out the Welcome Packet, available here.
